Since this is soccer time, the world cup, and the streets are full of friends from the Netherlands, I thought it was only fitting to put some of the top Metal Bands from the Netherlands on the blog. Let’s go…..
THANATOS
With a history dating back to 1984, Thanatos is the oldest death metal band from the Netherlands.
ASPHYX
One of my favs. Asphyx is a death/doom metal band formed in 1987.
SINISTER
Sinister is a death metal band formed in 1988.
GOREFEST
Founded in 1989, more death metal. This mans growl vocals are some of the best.
For those of you who haven’t been fortunate to travel to the north countries you are missing out on some great bands and great music. These bands featured today were among the first in Death Metal, yes there is more you can check out. There is nothing better than standing in front of the stage watching bands playing, giving everything they have to the fans, plus that hair moshing doesn’t hurt either. Music soothes the savage beast as they say, I guess it depends on the music, Metal doesn’t do that to me. It’s such an adrenalin rush, yeah you don’t need any energy drinks, the music will take you where you want it to. Think a couple thousand people all in one place and each may be taken to a different time and place with the music.
With this World Cup in the US this year there are so many countries here, check out their music. Me, I am of the North it’s all I need. I’m not saying I don’t like other countries music, I’ve had some great bands on here from across the world. You will find however that one particular band from one country stays with you always. Even if you listen to so many bands you always return to the first one that grabbed you.
