AEON OF AWARENESS – GERMANY
It’s been quite a while since they have been on the blog, so it’s time for an update. What started as a 2 man studio project ended up being a 4 man Melodic Death Metal Band. Here’s a sample before we start the interview.

Originally weren’t you a 2-man band in 2020? You are 4 now in 2021, what made you decide to add 2 more members?
When we founded Aeon of Awareness, it was originally meant to be a studio project. Meta and I wanted to write music that reflected our passion for melodic death metal without really thinking about playing live.
Over time, that changed. The more songs we wrote, the stronger the desire became to bring them to the stage and share them with people in a live setting. To make that happen, we needed more musicians.
When looking for new members, it was important that things worked on a personal level as well as a musical one. Fortunately, we found exactly the right people in Stefan, Theo and Erik. Today, we’ve grown into a solid band and are finally able to bring our music to the stage.

You know I am dying to know what did you do to that voice? Its so much deeper and raw than when I first heard you. What do you do to keep it in good condition?
Thank you very much! I’m really happy to hear that. A few years ago, I never would have imagined becoming the band’s frontman. Originally, I was primarily a guitarist. When our original vocalist decided to focus exclusively on studio work, a gap opened up for our live performances. For a while, we were lucky to have several friends helping us out as guest and session vocalists.
During that time, I started working much more seriously on my voice and began taking vocal lessons with Britta Gortz. Working with her helped me a lot and gave me the tools to grow into that role. The secret is probably less spectacular than you expect. Consistency is the most important factor. Bruce Lee is often credited with the quote, “Long-term consistency trumps short-term intensity,” and that idea describes my journey quite well.
Besides that, physical fitness, proper recovery and a healthy lifestyle play a huge role. I’ve noticed that my overall fitness has a direct impact on both my voice and my performance on stage. At the end of the day, what drives me most is the desire to keep learning and improving step by step.
Well whatever you are doing that voice has changed so much, you know I love my growl vocals, so whatever you’re doing keep doing it.
What should people know about the band?
Aeon of Awareness was born from the desire to reconnect with our musical roots while also exploring new paths. Melodic death metal has been part of our lives since our teenage years and has shaped us in many ways.
At some point, we felt the need to give something back to the genre and contribute to it in our own way.
Lyrically, we often explore themes such as consciousness, identity, mortality, our connection to nature and the search for meaning. We also draw inspiration from philosophy and Maori mythology and the search for meaning.
Musically, our goal is to create powerful and atmospheric melodic death metal. We respect the genre’s classic trademarks while remaining open to new influences and bringing our own musical backgrounds into the mix.
The world right now is in a very unstable place. Do your songs have any message to fans about this?
Direct political messages are not really the focus of Aeon of Awareness. Instead, our lyrics tend to deal with existential questions and themes inspired by Maori mythology. During uncertain times, I think it’s important not to focus solely on the chaos around us but also to take time for introspection.
If our music carries a message, it would probably be this: try to see challenges and adversity as opportunities for personal growth, take responsibility for your own life and hold on to something within yourself, even when the world around you feels unstable.
Music can play an important role in helping people process all kinds of experiences, and we hope that our songs can contribute something meaningful in that regard.
Summer is here, and with that come all the music festivals and gigs. Do you plan on doing any touring this year?
Absolutely. We’ve already had the chance to play several great shows in Poland this year. Right now, our main focus in on releasing new music. We are currently working on new material and plan to release at least one new single later this year. We’ve ben putting a lot of work into these songs and can’t wait to finally share them with our fans.
At the same time, there are more live activities planned for this year. While we can’t officially talk about everything just yet, I can say that there will be some exciting news in the near future. Anyone following our social media channels will year about it soon enough.
What are the long-range plans for the band? Where would you like to see the band going in the next few years?
Our most important goal is to keep evolving as musicians and to continue creating music that we’re proud of. We also want to keep growing as a live band, visit new countries and connect with more people through our music.
In the long run, we’d like to establish ourselves as a respected name within the scene while never losing the passion that inspired us to start this journey in the first place.
Well my HeadBangers there you have it. I have to say was a great interview. Per is more than just a great frontman he is a great thinker, I love that. And again this is why I love written interviews, so many thoughts run through a persons mind when they have to write, things that might go unsaid are said here. I’ve been following Per for several years and I can tell you that voice he has, it has developed so much. My congratulations to the band and Per for putting everything into their music. I have no doubt we will be hearing much more from them in the future.
